Glo-Valve Dodgers wins 16-1 of Lefors VFDA
The Glo-Valve Service Dodgers continued their winning ways with a 16-1 win over the Lefors Volunteer Fire Department Association in a game that started on May 3 and was continued on May 6 because of weather problems.
Carter McLaughlin picked up his third win of the year pitching one inning. He struck out two, walked three, allowed no earned runs and no hits. Evan Orand and Kale Doss pitched an inning each striking out the side each time.
Walks to Grace Mize, Tyler Howard and Bradley Laurenz followed by a Glo-Valve error gave the Lefors team a brief one-run lead in the top of the first inning. Glo-Valve responded in the bottom of the inning with seven runs featuring walks to Kale Doss, Tristen Shackelford, Trip Clark and Hagen Hudson and singles by Nate Haynes, Orand and McLaughlin. Gage Turner struck out but beat the throw to first when the ball got by the catcher.
Glo-Valve made it 11-1 after two innings when Doss reached first after a strikeout. He stole a pair of bases and scored when Haynes grounded out. Orand walked. Turner got to first again after a strikeout. McLaughlin walked. Stolen bases and wild pitches scored all baserunners.
The game ended in the bottom of the third as Glo-Valve tallied five more times. Waylon Huffman, Doss, Haynes and Turner drew walks in the inning. Orand and McLaughlin contributed infield hits.
Orand and McLaughlin were the leading hitters in the game with two hits each. Orand scored three times and McLaughlin twice. Orand had one RBI. McLaughlin had two.
