Flogistix beats Glo-Valve 12-2

Rhyan Elliff held the normally heavy hitting Glo-Valve Service Dodgers to only three hits as the Flogistix Red Sox avenged an earlier defeat with a sound 12-2 whipping in Pampa Optimist 11-12 Cal Ripken League action Thursday at Optimist Park.

Elliff pitched a complete game. He struck out five and walked two. Carter McLaughlin, Evan Orand and Kale Doss pitched for Glo-Valve.

In the first inning Elliff greeted Glo-Valve pitcher McLaughlin with a lead-off double and scored on an errant pickoff attempt. Kamden Snelgrooes singled and went to third on a single by Cy LeBlanc. Gage Gamblin walked. Snelgrooes scored on a wild pitch. LeBlanc went home on a fielder’s choice after a a Glo-valve hot box failed to get him out. Gamblin trotted home on a single by Trekker Lane. Flogistix led 4-0.

Flogistix went back to work in the top of the third inning. Elliff walked, stole two bases and slid home on a passed ball. With two out LeBlanc made it to second on an error. He took third on a wild pitch and scored on a pickoff attempt that went wild. 

The winners put the game away in the top of the fourth inning sending 10 batters to the plate. With one out, Caidyn Garcia drew a walk. Travis Williams was safe on an error. Ryan Mendoza loaded the bases with a single. A balk and a single by Elliff that got away from the outfielder brought in all three runners. Snelgrooes singled to bring in Elliff and took second on an error. He scored on a single by LeBlanc. LeBlanc made the final run on an error.

Glo-Valve finally got on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning. With one out Doss singled and stole second. He scored on a single by Nate Haynes. Haynes stole second and scored on an infield single by Orand.

Elliff lead Flogistix in hitting with three runs, two hits and two RBIs. Orand made two of Glo-Valve’s three hits and had one RBI. 

Both sides had outstanding defensive plays. Flogistix’ LeBlanc made two caught stealings of Glo-Valve runners trying to steal second. Elliff picked a runner off first. Glo-Valve pitchers, McLaughlin and Orand, each picked a runner off second. McLaughlin later caught a runner trying to steal second from his position as catcher. 

Flogistix improved to 3-1-1, a half-game behind Glo-Valve, which leads the league with a 4-1 record.
